I decided to head down the coast to center myself & meditate upon my sweet early morning swim. After stopping for a snack at the fruit stand, I arrived at my Heart Beach at 10:30. There were dolphins in the bay!
Instant Connection
The water felt warm and inviting… and since the pod was so close to shore I was able to join them immediately. This was a slightly smaller pod of 30 dolphins, including several mom & baby pairs– and two tiny, young babies. One of the moms had a damaged fluke (one tip was missing) from a very recent shark attack.
This pod was more interactive with people, and four of the dolphins were swimming in a smaller group away from the main pod. The larger group appeared to be slightly more sedate, so I gravitated towards the four young adults. One dolphin had a persistent remora on her chin, and two had distinctive cookie cutter scars and scrapes on their skin.
An Invitation to Play
These four dolphins were super playful and engaging! They invited me to join them and we moved as an intertwined unit, swimming nose to nose and belly to belly. We caroused for 15 minutes and then two of them pealed away, leaving me with a private escort of two extremely lively dolphins for another half hour.
We circled & dove, and threw our heads from side to side… swishing and laughing (me that is) and winking at each other while in constant, fluid motion. One of them delighted in the ‘spinning circle game’, with me in the middle rapidly kicking & paddling in a tight circle and him on the outside swimming as fast & close as possible while still maintaining eye contact. (In this game, the more you laugh, the faster the dolphin swims.) I was usually the first one to get dizzy & break the spin cycle!
It was magical. I shape shifted into my dolphin-form for awhile, lost in the joyful dance of dolphin playtime.
As the morning wore on we would join & mingle with the larger group as it meandered through the shallow bay. My two friends would seek me out to play for awhile, then we’d drop back into rhythm with the pod’s restful swimming pattern.
Tranquility and Universal Energy
Eventually the pod drifted more deeply into dolphin dreamtime, and my movement & thoughts intuitively slowed. Most of the people had swam into shore, and the energetic tone shifted to the tangible essence of ‘total tranquility’.
Soon I was floating alone and motionless in a shallow part of the bay. As sunbeams reflected off of the white sandy bottom, I began channeling Reiki energy towards the bay and the dolphins. The streaming energy reverberated off of the sand, creating an amplified field of higher frequency resonance in the aquamarine water. My heart filled with palpable love and the light in the water intensified.
Dolphins Love Reiki
The pod had been dreamily moving in an oblong pattern, and as I radiated Reiki and transmitted the sacred symbols, dolphins gently turned and began gravitating towards my outstretched hands. Some would glide to a momentary ‘standstill’ just underneath me with their eyes closed and their body language indicating a state of relaxed bliss. Others approached at the surface, swimming directly at me and then stopping in front of my hands to absorb the nurturing light.
The pod’s swimming pace slowed dramatically and their circling pattern tightened so that all thirty dolphins were gliding predominantly within the Reiki energetic field. It was an incredibly potent and mutually healing experience.
I spent the next 45 minutes floating at the surface, extending love and sacred symbols to the openly receptive dolphins. They were particularly responsive to the visual transmission of the symbols (vs my simply intending or holding the energy of love around them), and they especially loved the spiraling image.
While I have been able to do this with whales, I have never had the silent and solitary opportunity to extend Reiki to dolphins in this tranquil, motionless manner. It was truly an honor to act as a conduit for this pure and healing Universal Energy, and I was deeply moved by the pod’s conscious receptivity.
When individual dolphins had received enough Reiki, they intuitively moved out of the focal point of the energy field. Those who wanted more kept swimming back into the healing vortex to receive pure love.
Special Intention
I increased the healing intention towards a solitary dolphin who had deep gashes between his peduncle and his tail, as well as to the momma with the damaged fluke. The single injured dolphin kept returning… he didn’t swim as close to me as the others, but over time grew bolder and swam increasingly closer.
My two favorite play-mates appreciated the loving exchange. They swam close and slowed their pace to absorb their share of Universal energy.
Infinite Gratitude
When the pod began to move towards deeper areas within the bay, I swam to shore with my heart filled to the brim with gratitude and glowing with unconditional love. I am excited and look forward to sharing this dolphin-infused Reiki healing energy with my friends and clients!
